Road to Nowhere

On 24"x24"x1.5" gallery wrapped canvas.
 
Road to Nowhere is a visual memory of a road trip from New Jersey to Asheville, North Carolina along Route 81. Vintage travel papers gave me the starting point, including a map from the hotel, while the blooming redbuds that lined the route became the inspiration for the pink-purple shapes moving through the hills. Somewhere in the composition is a mountain house and the imagined character who owns the surrounding land — the self-proclaimed “queen of the mountain.” It is part travel memory, part landscape and part invented story.
