Couple by the Lake at Night
On 18"x24"x0.5" professional canvas.
Layered strokes of cobalt, ultramarine, and soft sky blue build a quiet nocturnal scene, a lake landscape suggested through rhythm and color instead of literal form. Broad horizontal and vertical marks interlock like the shoreline, the water, and the dark beyond, with the blues deepening toward the top of the canvas and fading into pale, luminous tones below, the way moonlight settles on still water. You can see the brush strokes.
In the lower left, a warm cluster of crimson, coral, rose, and ochre rises from the cool field: two figures standing close, their warmth set against the night around them. A thin ribbon of green runs through them, and their colors break apart on the surface below like a reflection rippling on the lake.
Small accents carry the eye across the composition: a lone navy square, flecks of olive and rust, and fine scratched lines in the wet paint. The result is calm and intimate, a still moment shared between two people with the night all around them.
